Gauges & Calibration
Out-of-cal equipment stopped at the point of measurement — not discovered at the audit.
What you can do
- Gauges with no calibration on record can’t be selected in the inspection form — and gauges out for calibration, out of service, or lost never appear in the picker at all
- Optional hard-stop policies go further: refuse the save on any overdue gauge, or require a gauge on every quantitative measurement — start with warnings, tighten when your team is ready
- Calibration dates nobody can pencil-whip: last cal and verification dates are never hand-typed — they derive only from logged calibration events, and deleting an event rolls the date back to the prior evidence
- Dates entered at gauge creation or CSV import become auditable baseline events automatically, so migrating from a spreadsheet leaves no evidence gap
- Gauge registry with categories, locations, serial numbers, calibration and verification intervals — overdue and due-soon flagged in color, with a weekly due-soon digest email
- Calibration history with certificate records
- Measurement traceability: if a gauge fails calibration, find every measurement it touched in seconds
- Gauges tie into inspection plans, so the right tool is specified per part
